Below is information on nutkhut's most recent commissions and collaborations.
Regal etiquette meets town hall bureaucracy in a comedy of cultural confusion. Commissioned by Stockton International Festival and Ealing Festival in 2004, and supported by EUNETSTAR, the cast included stilt-walkers, musicians, aerialists and dancers, with pyrotechnic effects, live music and a 200-year-old Indian rope trick.
Choreography on two wheels by Simmy Gupta. 25 bikes ran riot through Trafalgar Square in a performance specially commissioned by Greenwich and Docklands Festivals and the Mayor of London to highlight Transport for London¹s Bike Week.
One thousand children performed a salutation with flags choreographed by Simmy Gupta, on the route of the Olympic Torch Relay in 2004, followed by a televised display involving 300 performers in which a sea of silk divided in two as Sir Steve Redgrave ran down the Mall bearing the Olympic Torch. Commissioned by Greenwich and Docklands Festivals and the Mayor of London.
The Olyndian Games brought theatre and fashion together to celebrate the international release of Diesel’s spring/summer 2003 collection, inspired by vintage sports clothing and south Indian design. nutkhut created the performance for site-specific stadiums across Europe, with champions / models from different countries competing in a series of stylized sports representing the collection.
Directed by Ajay Chhabra, nutkhut created The Six Figures of City Hall as a performance celebrating contemporary Norwegian life and culture, using the statues in front of City Hall - Oslo as inspiration. Produced in collaboration with the Horizon Foundation and supported by the British Council, the performance involved nine young Norwegians of Moroccan, Kenyan and Iranian descent.
Wrapped Up is a collaboration between aerial performer Vicki Amedume and Kathak dancer Simmy Gupta.
A street show with Walk the Plank and the Dhol Academy inspired by the north Indian dhol drum.
